In the heart of São Filipe, Fogo, overlooking the historic town center and the ocean, with a breathtaking view of the neighboring island of Brava, lays The Colonial B & B.
Occupying a house built in 1883 by one of the most significant characters in the history of Fogo Island, The Colonial B & B represents one of the town’s most noted examples of sobrado architecture, and is today one of the most famous structures in the archipelago.
Carefully restored to its original glory, The Colonial B & B offers nine beautifullyappointed guest accommodations. Each room, with its unique shape and size, includes satellite television and a private bathroom. Please note that inorder to maintain the architectural layout of the house, and preserve it for the future, some guest rooms have an in-suite bathroom while others have a private bathroom located just a short distance from the room.
After taking a leisurely stroll through the cobblestone streets of the historic town center, visiting the lively local market, or taking an inland excursion to visit the Volcano or another of the island’s spectacular natural attractions, guests at The Colonial can relax in one of our two interior courtyards – one surrounding arefreshing swimming pool and the other planted with trees and vines that provide cool shade to guests who wish to read a book, swing gently in acomfortable hammock, or enjoy a conversation over a cocktail or cup of coffee. Our spacious terrace, with its 6-person Jacuzzi, also offers ample space for guests to unwindwhile enjoying the commanding view of the town, the ocean, and the island of Brava in the distance.
After a restful night’s sleep, guests at The Colonial enjoy a full breakfast of tropical fruits, freshly baked bread, eggs, meats, local artesian goat cheese, and, of course, hot coffee brewed from the world-renown beans grown in our island’s rich volcanic soil.
